I chose average bc even though i was booked, they didn't have any accommodations when i arrived. They sent me to their sister hostel, Pangea, instead. I never got to see the rooms or experience living there.

Great Hostel (besides the fact that they didnt kick dude out of the private room that I had ordered... but they did make great accomdations for us as a result.) Located in Barrio Fransisco Perralta, which is where i spent a month long stay, so i knew the local bars and what not. Not more than a 2 dollar cab ride to San Jose central if thats your thing. Felt safer here than Pangea, just because you are outside of the heart of the city.

muy caro. refused to change reservations 24 hrs in advance as was agreeed upon. atempted to make me pay twice. some staff unfriendly and unhelpful as if only to get as much money.

The location is tough. I went walking around at night, and could not find my way back because there are no street signs. But I guess that would be the case for anywhere. Be careful. I was told walking at night would be unsafe, but I never felt I was in danger. The man at the desk was very friendly and helpful.

I had a great stay at this hostel. It actually had hot water which was an awesome change from the others I stayed at. One thing I would suggest is to make a bigger sign or paint the name of the hostel on the front gate. I walked by it like three times before I found it because the sign was hidden behind a tree. Other than this the hostel was bad ass.
